This was my very first gift box cake. The lid was made from styrofoam covered in fondant, and supported with a couple dowels in the middle of the cake. I had a hard time figuring out how to get the lid secure though - even with the dowels holding it, it still tended to wobble slightly. The bow is made of gumpaste.
