Princess Castle

Princess Castle on Cake Central

This was my first attempt at cake baking and it was a big success. The bottom is a 10-inch square (I used the epicurious chocolate layer cake with chocolate ganache in the center). The top is an 8-inch round (I used Rose Berenbaum's Velvet White Cake with Neoclassic buttercream). The whole thing was iced in neoclassic buttercream with a very, very thin layer of off-white frosting to get the colour I wanted. The turrets are paper towel rolls covered in saran wrap, then rolled in white chocolate. They are topped with an ice cream cone cup (also rolled in white chocolate), then topped with an upside-down sugar cone rolled in white chocolate and then pink & clear sugar crystals. The windows, door, flowers and leaves are all royal icing that I made in advance. The princesses are just decorations. The bridge is made of wafer cookies. Thanks to all the other people who uploaded castle cake pictures on this site- I couldn't have done this without the help of cakecentral!
