I entered this in the Sweet Times in the Rockies show this week at the Denver Home and Garden Show. The Extravagant Cakes category had a theme of Caribbean Pirates, so my cake told part of Captain Blackbeard's story. He stole a french slave ship in the 1700s and renamed it the Queen Anne's Revenge. He was fearsome enough that he often overtook other ships and got surrendered to without ever firing a shot. When his crew grew to over 300, he ran his flagship aground and abandoned it on a sandbar
