This was for a golf tournament with a mardi gras theme and it was also my very first whimsical cake. I was supper nervous it was going to fall over even though I knew it wouldn't. Crazy mind tricks these cake play. I had made some masks out of gumpaste, but then I decided that the cake just didn't need them, so I just laid them around the base of the cake. Don't you hate when you make stuff that takes forever and then in the end you don't even need it. The cake is fondant with gumpaste accents.
