50Th Priest Anniversary
I made this for a priest in our parish celebrating the 50th Anniversary of his ordination. He's of Italian descent, so I tried to convey that in the cake. Fondant cake with fondant grapes/leaves. Crosses and scrollwork are RI sprayed gold. First time covering board in fondant. I am a Critique Subgroup Member.
Critique subgroup member: Wow Beachcakes, I think this is my favorite cake from you! I adore the grapes the crest the cross and the "50". Nice job bringing the accent color into the ribbon! It really has a Tuscany architectural appeal to me. BTW what size are your cakes? I'm thinking the space is too little for the average 3 inches, 6, 9, 12....but could be wrong with the lovely adornments taking space......one last thing the bottom border was too plain for me, other then that ;-D
This cake is beautiful!!! Excellent job.
In a word... elegant. I love it!
Critique group member: Very nice! I love the richness of the colors and all the gilt work.
Amazing job, definitly an "Old World" feel to it, I love that the grapes are different colors and a really nice size as well.
I just love it  Very impresive
Well this is just beautiful :) .... I'm sooo glad you posted this.. you don't see many cakes for Priests on here at all and this is just wonderful :) !!!
Beautiful! You did a great job covering the board. Love the the dry-on-dry look of the gold painted onto the fondant! Your grapes look amazing, aso do your RI pieces! Great job on the topper! Very pretty work! I'm sure the recipient was floored by such a lovely work of art.
Critique Subgroup Member: Beautiful cake! I love the paint job on the cake and board. Your grapes, leaves and vines are outstanding, as are the crosses, grate and topper! The ribbon on the board matches perfectly and looks very elegant. Teeny thing: I would have painted the white border on the bottom tier the same as the cake and board. Excellent work on this! Congratulations!
Ciritque group member: Amazing cake here! No critiques from me - I think it is a wonderfully executed design. Your '50' is fantastic.
This turned out beautiful! I love everything about it!
Critique Subgroup Member: This is gorgeous! I love the elegant gold, grapes, and scroll theme. Really nothing to critique here, but I agree that the white border would look nice matching the rest.
What a beautiful cake! Elegant and I am sure very meaningful to the recipient. How lovely of you to design it so carefully.
Critique Subgroup Member:amazing. I think this is an excellent cake- perfectly executed- the grapes and all of your detail work look perfect. I love the brushes of color you added to the whole design and your scroll work is definitely professional level. I see what everyone means about the white border and I agree. I would have used gold to tie it all together.
Wow. I mean... this is gorgeous! The antiquing you did with the luster dust is simply elegant and beautiful! I am loving the whole look of this cake!
Critique Subgroup Member: Beautiful. I like the way you "antiqued" the cake. Your RI work is flawless. I do agree that you could have blended the bottom border with a few strokes of gold, but other than that, this is one great cake!
This is so amazing! I love your gold accent pieces... Can you tell me what spray you used? Thanks so much!
