Dressing Baby

Dressing Baby on Cake Central

I'm back! LOL No more onesies for now. But got a seersucker green and white baby dress. I know how to make the stripes blend in but wanted them to be straight. Not quite sure how to get there just yet LOL Hope you like

Thank you sooo much! I carved the shape of the dress out of cake, iced it, let it chill a bit then began the fondant. I covered it with white fondant first (except for the bow...tell ya that one in a min). I then cut strips of green fondant and place it on the cake one by one. I used water to make it stick.Did the pockets separately. This cake is laying on another cake also. The bow, I made by cutting strips of both white & green, laying them on top of another piece of fondant & then rolling it out.

The difference is that the stripes actually look like one piece instead of one on top of the other, like the majority of the cake looks. My only problem was, I couldn't get the stripes to stay even & I needed really large pieces to cover the cake. I guess I could've went slower & gotten it done but I was just ready to just get done. I didn't have to cut white strips too, using more fondant. They loved it so I'm happy and tired LOL LOL

Meka this is beautiful!!! I can tell you put a LOT of work into this...I hope they appreciated this!!! Your bow looks soo real... almost like a sheer/green stripe type of bow!! Lovely cake!!! I've heard many good things about your cakes!!! :D

THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH! Yeah, it kinda took forever  but I've had cakes that have taken longer. The stripes actually went faster than I thought and the time spent was therapeutic. It's cakes like these (and such wonderful people like you all) that keep me going 'cause believe me...I've almost thrown in the towel SEVERAL times. Thanks so much again, you'll never know how much it's appreciated!!
