1St Communion
First Communion cake based on Hsmomma's & sugarshack's designs - Thanks for the inspiration! :) Cake is BC, fondant pink swag, flowers, grapes, wheat, chalice are gumpaste. I had a hard time getting the swags to pleat. I would appreciate any/all feedback! thanks!

Critique Subgroup Member: You made a beautiful cake. For the swags, would having the gumpaste a bit thinner help? I haven't worked with gumpaste, so I don't know for sure. I like the layout of all elements and how the cake is on the diagonal. I would have used a different color for the board--maybe pastel yellow, purple, or pink to brighten that up a bit.
critique group member: this is a really nice cake. I kinda feel like the grapes make the cake to weighted on the front corner. like maybe all the elements on top could've been set back some. overall your flowers look really nice and everything looks so real!
critique subgroup member: this cake is beautiful. the only thing that threw me was that the chalice is two dimensional, while everything else is 3-d. your frosting is so smooth and your borders are gorgeous! it's simply stunning!
critique subgroup member: really wonderful presentation overall. If I'm being picky -- perhaps the graps could have looked a little less uniform or symetrical, but otherwise, I love it all!
Critique subgroup member: Very lovely design. Your colors are perfect and your piping and icing superb. Here are some things to look at...your cake board is two little. Nothing should ever hang over he edge. Should be two to three inches bigger then the entire design. While you did a good job on the wheat it is too bulky, I believe Alan Dunn's book would show a "lighter" version. Your grapes are pretty, if you had changed up the colors on each grape a bit, they would seem more realistic. Still stunnin...
