Graduated Pink Scrolls

Graduated Pink Scrolls on Cake Central

This is a dummy cake that I've done for the Expat fair this weekend - hoping it'll get me some more customers, especially wedding ones! 4, 6, 9 &12in rounds covered in graduating pink fondant then dusted with Supreme Sparkle dust (thanks CC!). Scroll work and borders are RI which has been painted with a 50/50 mix of Supreme Sparkle & Super Pearl lustre dust. Heart are gumpaste dipped in White Diamond edible glitter. I woke up at 3am last week with this design in my head and just had to do it!

The thought of a pink wedding cake made me nervous....until I saw yours. It is absolutely beautiful!I am shocked as to how much I love the colour. The whole cake is stunning!

I used Squire's Kitchen 'Rose' to colour the fondant - a little bit in the tier, and then I just kept adding more to each batch of fondant as the tiers progressed. I think you could get the same effect with Americolors Electric Pink which I love. I don't like thier general pinks - a bit too Barbie for my taste!

Thanks everyone! Yes, I painted all that RI, the piping and painting took 8 hours altogether - my neck. back and right hand are killing me  !

Great job. I will be doing cake very similar to yours come November. How did you do the scroll work? It looks so uniformed

I just free-handed the scroll work - I'm not keen on the look of the press scrolls, so I just piped one long scroll every 4-6ins or so, and then piped further scrolls coming off it and went with the flow!
