I want to buy a kitchenaid mixer, but I'm not sure which one is best for icing etc. Any one have any suggestions?

I believe there are all really good! It just depends on what size you want and how much icing you will be making....I have a 4.5 quart and I was just given my mom's 6 quart since she never uses it.Yipee!!!!

I have the KA professional 600 and for regular to big batches (icing) or double cake recipes it's fabulous!!!!
I would actually like a smaller one to have for the times you only need a small amount of icing - royal for example.

I was going to get the professional 600, but the hubby wasn't real thrilled w/the price tag, so we went for the smaller model. now that he sees how much i use it he said he'd get me the big one for my birthday in april. woo hoo! i'm excited to have two mixers!

Not to promote eBay, but that's where I got mine 2 years ago now. It was well over $100 cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

Ok I just checked out amazon.com I found a refurbished professional 600 for $309 (shipping included) They said they are going to ship it out Monday. I had a regular stand mixer (not KitcenAid) and it died on me yesterday making a regular batch of RI. They said the pro. 600 has motor protection.. Now I am so excited!!!

i would suggest to invest in the 600 pro series...its a bit costly but worth the money and the size.... you wouldnt want to buy the 5 quart and then 3 months later need the 6 quart. i bought one over the holidays....i will get it at the end of this month when i go to fl to visit a friend who has it for me. cant wait.

Sur La Table has theirs for about $399.95, but with a special offer, it's $370.00 after mail-in rebate. Furthermore, it comes with a year subscription to two magazines. . .travel and gourmet, I believe. thumbs_up.gif

Do you have a Linens 'n Things in your area? They have a 20% off coupon about every week or so and you could use it on your Kitchen Aid.
I did that about 2yrs ago, and bought an Artisian model. LOVE IT!! One of my greatest purchases! It even had a $20 rebate @ that time. Now what I really need is an exta bowl.
