Hi, does anyone know the difference between using milk vs. buttermilk in cake recipes and if they can be interchanged as substitutes? Thanks!

You can add a tsp(?) vinegar to 1 cup of milk to make buttermilk. Buttermilk has a very rich, tangy taste.

You can also add 1 tsp. lemon juice to 1 cup milk and it will do the same thing. You should let add the vinegar or lemon juice to the milk and let it set 5 minutes before adding it to your mixture.
