What the HECK do you put a 12 x 28 two-layer cake on??!!

I usually don’t do these but the customer is the granny of a friend and when we sketched out what she wanted...it looked like this. (Don’t judge me, I draw like a five-year-old)


Aaaand This Is Why I Don’T Say Yes To Humongous Sheet Cakes.

 But does this mean I have to do the dreaded “go to Home Depot and cut a giant piece of plywood” thing? Which i have ZERO experience in?!? And will it fit through  a regular door?!?!

Not really :)  Just double a full sheet board OR  1/2' thick foam core boards.  Glue them together and you should be fine.

I don't know about big box stores, but our local building supply store will actually cut boards any size you want them.  They have this awesome saw that is mounted vertically!

For the trumpet, I would print a picture of a trumpet in the desired size (doesn't even have to be edible, just let everyone know) and mount it on a piece of fondant.  Be sure to let the fondant dry for several days.

I just tape together 2 pieces of 1/2 inch foamcare and cover it with a food safe material.  Lightweight & extremely sturdy.

I have a Christmas cake in my album that has hand formed horns   Look for tri-level Christmas pic if it’s viewable   —not exactly a trumpet but maybe useable
