I haven't done a wedding cake in a long time and have never done a gold cake. I have a request to do a smaller 3 tier cake like this 6 tier picture below. My cake would consist of tiers 3,4, & 5 below. My question is. What do you guys think they used for the gold?  I bought the Wilton gold confetti but it looks different. I have until October to figure it out. Any help greatly appreciated.

You can still use the Wilton gold confetti but then paint it with a pretty shade of edible gold paint.

I have handcut fondant confetti before (TEDIOUS) and then used ready-made confetti for another project. Pros and cons for both but for ease and time saving then I would suggest using your Wilton gold confetti and then painting.

You can even buy confetti molds now (Evil Cake Genius sell them) so perhaps a combination of the two would work. I've not used that particular mold from ECG before though so can't comment on that one.

Thanks, do you know which edible gold is best to paint with? I don't care for the yellow gold but I know it has to be edible?

Roxy and Rich [roxyandrich.com] has several shades of edible gold.  Just avoid the highlighter dusts, as they're not edible.

Wilton makes a spray gold which looks nice and is edible.  It is not as glittery and bright as some, but most of them are not edible.  This cake was done with the Wilton spray.Advice Needed For A Gold Wedding Cake
