White Spots In Dark Buttercreams

I use a 50/50 butter/shortening icing recipe and notice sometimes when I do dark colors and refrigerate my cakes that white spots come out. I thought they may disappear upon returning to room temp but now I don’t think they do

How long are you mixing it   Long slow mixing should help   Another thing to do is sift your sugar & beat your shortening and butter well before adding sugar
