I want that perfect light scrummy sponge recipe I’ve tried mary berry’s which was ok but not as good as my friend makes!

Are you sure your friend is not using a cake mix? It is difficult to make a cake from scratch that is as light and fluffy as a mix. Perhaps you should ask your friend for her recipe and to teach you her method.
