Hi! I was going to get back into baking from home again, I perform full time as a singer but miss baking so much and I was wondering if anyone has any insight about how to handle orders coming in and how to get them out in a timely fashion. Do you advertise “need to order by said date” or do people make cakes, cupcakes ahead of time and advertise those ones to be sold until they are sold out? Any advice is appreciated!

I bake from home too and am a full time Special Education teacher.  I only bake when I have an order and need at least a week's notice.  My customers know this and it is not usually a problem.  I will fill an order in an emergency if I can, but will turn it down if I know I can't get it done in time.  It is just a hobby for me and I refuse to let it stress me out.  That takes the fun out of it.  Good luck to you!
