Has anyone made one of theses unicorn cakes in a size 9" round? For the amount of people needing this kind of cake, I'm going to try to do this in a 9" cake pan.

Was there a pic attached? Is it just the face basically with the horn, ears. and hair? I've done it with a 10 inch pan and it was cute. I've also done them as 2 tiers.

From my phone i tried to attach a picture from online that im using as my template, it took up too much space. This picture looks like an 8" round, several pictures online do... that's why I asked....

Gotcha. I just typed it in to Google as 9 inch and a few came up. They're cute in any size. I think it is getting the proportions of the ears, and horn sized correctly that will make or break how it looks.

Oh I hope it looks ok!! I'm just getting back into after a 2 year hiatus. Family health issues. Several surgeries. I'm happy to get back to it!

You could make a unicorn cake in any size.  It is the height that is needed to balance the design.  For a nine inch cake, I would be sure it is at least 4" tall and preferably 6".

I usually do 3 two-inch layers in 7" rounds.  Comes out to be about 8" tall.

I am talking into my microphone, my three-year-old grand daughter is sick will be having surgery on Friday, my 9 month old granddaughter has a fever and teething. The cake is not due until December 10th that's why I've been asking all these questions early. Hopefully I will be able to post a picture when I have It done.

OR, you can double it.  Here is one that I did for a lot of people.

I agree that the height of the cake is very important in regards to a unicorn cake.  I would aim for at least a 6" or taller cake, especially since you are doing a 9" round.  Anything shorter and things can kind of look a bit squaty.
