I painstakingly made fondant figurines for a cake to be used Saturday. I added gum paste to the fondant hoping they would harden up nicely. Well the weather here has been unbelievably humid today and when I checked my creations they were all melting. I don't know what to do to get them to harden. They took me forever so I really don't want to remake them. Please help.
Place them in the oven (oven is off) and turn the light on. The heat from the light will help dry out the fondant. You could also try using a hairdryer placed on the lowest setting and hold it about a foot away from your figurines. Or you could just sit a fan in front of the figurines, but since humidity seems to be the problem the oven may be the best option since it may help keep out the humidity to allow your figures to dry a bit faster.
I agree that the oven is the best choice - turned off with just the light on.
