Hi Ratio Shortening Melts!!!!????

30 days ago a client order her wedding cake 5 tiers cake!! and she ask me to use hi ratio shortening in my butter cream recipe ( my first time) I use vegetable shortening (regular) . I had questions about the product, I read fantastic comments about it  so I accept to used , yesterday was the wedding I arrive on time to assemble the cake but start seen cracks on the frosting and the wedding planer send me a picture of the cake "melting" like ice cream !!!! I follow the instructions !! I can't feel more terrible , never happen to me before!! what I did wrong ?? the wedding was outside in a garden  we live in Charlotte NC is august ! is not 100's outside !! I don't understand!!! is not my first wedding cake ! I have couple years on baking  and I feel soo bad!!

can someone can helpme !!?? what happened???

how hot was it? did the sun shine on it? the humidity plays a part too and the wind -- did they mistakenly put a fan on the cake? that just makes a convection device out of it
