Hi everyone! I am making a wedding cake for June 22nd and the bride needs to feed 100 people. We had decided on a 6-9-12 cake with a faux 14 inch layer (because she likes the height) but without the 6 inch layer, which she wants to take home, the cake only feeds ~86.
I had someone tell me that an 8-10-12 would feed 100 people but the bride likes the 6-9-12-faux 14 look better. I thought about doing a 6-8-10-12, but it will definitely leave some left over cake. And she wants the 9 inch to be a hexagon shape. I’ve attached her reference photo. She really likes the height of the bottom layer
just make an extra 6"-- deliver it boxed with the tier cake -- then serve the whole cake -- or whatever if you want to just switch the two 6" tiers --
Yah what she ^^^ (K8) said. Just make an extra cake - can be the 6"er boxed for them to keep or a 'kitchen sheet cake' type thing so you can keep the design as requested. Problem solved :)
Besides that - there is always a certain # (10%??) of people invited who don't show, then there are always another certain percent who won't eat any cake along w/those 'hungry' guests who want 2nd & 3rds :)
