i am finally to the place where i can sell my cake stuff -- this is my second time to sell out tons of stuff -- the first time was like 20 years ago -- then cakin' creeped back up on me like a sweet inescapable disease -- ha!
i'm even probably even selling my beloved commercial fridge -- but for sure tons of cake pans -- the 20 quart -- i don't think i can relinquish the 12 quart but let's focus on what i can do --
i want to sell as much as possible local because of the weight -- but i am not super quick either-- when i get to the small stuff, cutters, molds and hundreds of tips and books, etc. -- if i get them on ebay i will let y'all know -- if you are local here in beautiful memphis tn -- pm me if you are interested --
it's all good
-K8memphis, I'm there with you in spirit and wish you could keep it all. I had to give up most of my baking, caking, decorating stuff and about a hundred cake pans last year before our move out of state. Things that have been collected and used by me for decades had to be given new homes. C'est la Vie ~~ yes.
As embarrassing as it is, I'm also having to 'recollect' a cake pan Kakeladi . Had to purchase one new one. having recently opening my packed- up cake boxes, and low and behold~~I didn't bring a single sheet cake pan.
no 7x9, 9x13, 11x15, 12x18, not a one. argghhhh Hopefully this will be my last move forever.
I hate to even think about you selling your cake toys, -K8memphis. If I sold cakes instead of just playing as a hobby, I would be on my way to Memphis with my truck! As it is, I am trying very hard to keep it to a minimum. Heck, I am already one month away from 70, so I sould be down sizing, not bringing in more stuff! Your knowledge is your most valuable tool, anyway, and I am very grateful that you share so generously!
not a fun thing to do. I remember how hard it was when I closed up shop to do this. I still have too much cake stuff in my storage area and I keep telling myself, "you haven't used it in a long time ..... get rid of it" but knowing as SOON as I get rid of all of those big pans, one of my grandchildren will NEED a big cake! I just KNOW it. On the good side, since I now teach high school cooking, I've managed to add a cake decorating unit to one of my advance classes, so recently I got to go shopping for cake supplies! Ahhhh.....the rush!! the rush!!! LOL!
geez it's an addiction -- I went by the cake store to get a 9" pan to complete a 15 pan set of pans from 2" to 16" -- I mean how can one lose a 9" pan -- but it will sell better complete right? anyway -- I was still drooling as I went through the aisles -- saw a cake stand i'd always wanted to get... deliver me --
I wish it didn't cost so much to ship -- I have two sets of the round 2" to 16", plus 2 petal sets, 2 heart sets, 3 square sets -- those round pan sets look like giant graduated cookie cutters --- I need to take pictures for my scrapbook -- oh wait -- I don't have a scrapbook -- hahahaha
i'm going to contact the various cooking schools around here & see if the teachers will tell the students that I have this sh*t available -- and then I might go by some bakeries -- then i'll try some of the commercial food stores that sell used stuff -- I just need to get the word out --
do you think I could/should accept payment only through paypal? accepting cash scares me a little -- i'm not doing checks of course -- Idk -- that part is concerning --
surprisingly it's k8memphis :) nothing's on there yet -- but thanks for the encouragement -- i'll keep yah/yahs posted ![]()
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! That's pretty cool! Okay, just let me know! I need more things! : )
-K8memphis, it makes me drool just reading about those pans! I received YESTERDAY two each round 9", 7", 5", 4" and 3" to round out my set of 16" to 3".....just couldn't stand the thought of trying to ice a 2", lol. I want to jump in the car and head straight to Memphis for those heart shaped pans and, what the heck is a petal pan, those too! But, like I said, I rarely make a big cake, so I am just kidding myself. Sounds like some mighty fine stuff for someone who needs it!
margaret braun has a 2" tier in her book I think --
but regarding a payment method -- my son is telling me to use venmo a paypal derivative
yep on page 125 of "cakewalk" a 2" tier 4" tall -- cray cray but true true
just for the record -- venmo is Not recommended for payments like this for products and things -- venmo is for payments between friends like to split a check at a restaurant or something --
So sorry to hear that you're selling! I wish I could've gotten started, but well lots of things happened. I will be watching Ebay for the little stuff. I bake for family and church and now do bread along with the usual sweet stuff. I've had to make a few changes, but still no luck keeping my kiddo's fingers out of the icing or dough or whatever I'm making, ha ha!
I can't believe that the day I log in after so long you're giving up caking! :'( Thank you for all of your advice in the past, I still use what I learned on here. :)
thank you craftyb -- i gave up caking a long time ago due to arthritis -- that's why i post on here -- i'm just finally able to remove my equipment from my house now, soon -- i've actually already sold some -- maybe while i get better from the flu i can get some stuff on ebay -- oh no -- you can't get rid of me that easy -- hahahahaha
i'll post when i get some stuff on there -- i'm slow :)
you're the best :)
Hey guys,
in a similar boat here, I posted my own thread about what I have available to sell. Willing to ship some items if interested.
I have two sets of round 3" pans from 2" to 16" -- 15 pans each -- even and odd sizes
I think I have three sets of square pans:
two sets of 15x12x9x6 -- each 3" deep -- and one set of 16,14,12,10,8,6 -- 2" deep
two sets of hearts -- five pans each, 3"deep
and the scalloped ones -- two sets of those
I need to contact some local bakers....
I have a friend who LOVES to organize things -- I keep telling myself to see if she will work for me in getting this all arranged, photographed and ready for shipping -- just any minute now....
so I have hundreds of piping tips -- think I should make sets out of them or just sell the whole mess outright? I seem to have quite an over abundance of 1's -- ugh I just want to procrastinate -- maybe I should sell something else first --
ok I only have about 150 -- i'm making sets out of them and i'm making myself crazy
LOOK at this --
why would anyone buy anything else -- a dollar thirty-nine -- are you kidding me??
oh wait -- I found it on sale for ninety-nine cents and free ship
I know! but they are killing me trying to sell all this schtuff I gotta sell -- hahahaha
but seriously -- it textures the flower and cuts all in one fell swoop -- omg -- be still my beating heart -- 99 cents -- I lost more than that in my recliner last night --
hey -- I can't be thinking like this -- I gotta think "grrr I gotta sell sell sell"
however
the evil cake genius videos appear on my facebook feed -- oh she is a wicked good cake genius -- I could just dive in that pool and swim a mile --
le sigh
I have these hydrangea cutters. Got them from AliExpress. They work great. Think they were just over $2 USD shipped to Canada. I’m a bad girl cause I was browsing on AliExpress on Sunday afternoon and bought quite a few unique cakey tools. Lots of molds and some cake pans I have wanted.
omg-- you paid DOUBLE heheheh -- but I mean seriously $2 for hydrangea cutters & veiners -- where in the good old days those things cost a dang fortune plus a veiner plus the little ding dongs inside -- geez --
those peeps in china are not making money -- their goal is simply to undercut -- and it's working!
I don't know why anyone would go into this business -- because you can always create and be creative without sticking your neck out financially to try & support a business -- anyway I digress -- but too bad you paid double hahahaha
so on ebay -- selling from the states, not china, they have sets of piping tubes with some spatulas & stuff like 50 pieces for $15 or something lowball -- but like they also have the fancy flower tubes nowadays like the russian ones 12/$25 -- so I divided my stuff into two sets, like 75 pieces each and I usually say free shipping then start the bidding about where the shipping would be -- the smallest usps fixed rate box is $7.20 (wow pricey -- maybe I should move to china hahahaha) -- so that's how i'll probably go -- then i'm breaking even on sending it out and any higher bids are my moolah --
but I can't find the cord to download the pictures onto the computer -- > sick grin -- weak knees -- cahn't breathe < someone wonderful cleaned up the computer area and the cords haven't been seen since -- heheheh (not funny!) ![]()
