I know that if anyone knows the answer to this question, it will be the CC community. I plan on doing a cake covered in Swiss meringue buttercream. I have a cornelli lace stencil & would like to use royal icing to stencil over the SMBC. Will the buttercream (or the royal icing) break down? This would be done the day before the cake is needed. Or should I just stencil with SMBC? Thanks in advance.

just pipe it on there -- when you remove the stencil it is likely the icing underneath will be flawed because smbc doesn't crust

now, I've held a stencil up to the side of a smbc iced cake -- not touching -- and that worked well with an airbrush
