Hi all, I'm new here so I'm going to jump right on in at the deep end and ask a question I'm in desperate need of an answer too.
I have to make a red velvet wedding cake in the new year. I've checked all the recipies and they all seem a little too "delicate".
I'm looking for a sturdy sponge without buttermilk, yoghurt, oil etc. I'm in need of one almost as sturdy as a madeira / basic sponge cake as it has to travel for six hours to get to its destination.
Can anyone suggest a good recipe that's tried and tested? Or even how to adjust recipies I already have to make it red velvet?
