Grainy Buttercream

Hi,

I made american buttercream today with 250 gm unsalted butter,500 gm icing sugar,1 tsp vanilla extract and 2 tbsp milk..But my buttercream became grainy shockingly...

Kindly advice please...what should i do now??can i fix it??and where i did wrong??why my buttercream become grainy??

Sorry for asking so many questions..please help...

How long did you beat it?  Exactly what is the recipe and directions.....it would help to know those things.  I would try beating it on low speed for 10 minutes.......yes, that long.

sift the icing -- and use real cane sugar -- if it doesn't say 'cane sugar" it's not so don't buy it -- cane sugar costs more but it's not grainy

The cake looks like a professional did it!!! It looks pretty finished to me!! I bet your niece was very excited to get such a beautiful cake!! Great job!!

k8, that is interesting what you said about cane sugar. I will remember that next time I make frosting with real sugar. I bought some real cane sugar when I went to the store yesterday.
