I haven't really worked with edible images on cakes. I would like to wrap the fondant cake around with an image. I want to also add a name plaque on the side of the cake. Will royal icing be the best way to attach and will that cause any damage to the edible image?

I always applied EI's with a light coat of b'cream. One might also use piping gel. Just use a very light coat of whatever icing you choose. I don't use RI so can't say how it would work. I am almost sure it will not cause damage to the image.
