Hey guys, I want to make a cake for Respiratory Care week at work. Ive seen alot of normal "lung" cakes, but I want to make one that looks more realistic. Im going to use fondant, but i assume I need to paint it somehow to get a nice glossy sheen that looks like the covering of a real lung. I dont have an airbrush so Ill have to use food coloring I suppose. Any suggestions?

My off-the-cuff thought is that fondant gets shiny when it is wet so maybe painting it w/thinned down food coloring will give you the shine you are looking for.  Do some practice.....just a piece of fondant and color to see how it works.
