Hi All,
I am making a egg free dairy free cake in a couple weeks. I know the Wilton fondant is safe because I reached out to the their customer service but I'm thinking about making a topper using their gum paste. I've reached out but haven't heard anything from the company yet. Does anyone know for sure if their gum paste is egg free dairy free? Made in same facility is fine just not used on it.
Best,
Ila
If you are certain the Wilton fondant is safe, why not just add Tylose or Wilton's Gum Tex, which, in effect, turns the fondant into gum paste and it can be used for models. Works fine.

Above is a gum paste recipe that should fit your needs.
CMC, Tylose, Gum Tex are all natural or synthetic forms of gum tragacanth, which is a sap derived from plants.
Hi!
I actually heard back from Wilton & they told me there are no eggs or dairy in the gum paste. They do have dairy in the same facility which in this case is ok. So for this brand it looks like I'm good! But allergy baking is always stressful.
Best,
Ila

Ila,
There is no egg and dairy in the ingredients for both the ready to use gum paste and the gum paste mix. However, there is milk in the facility where both items are manufactured.
Thanks,
Marco
