I will be making a sphere planet cake for a child's birthday. Will I have to dowel for support on both top and bottom layers with a cake board in between the 2 half spheres? Also, how to cut the cake without cutting the dowels?

Thanks,

I did not need much cake when I made mine, so I did RKT in the bottom half.  Yes, I used a board between them.  I secured the RKT to the board with nails - three nails in the center, up into the RKT.  I did not use any dowels.
