Hi everyone!

The storm saga continues. It got much worse over the weekend with lots of old growth trees coming down, power outages and lots of flooding. They estimate about 4000 people are still not in their homes after flooding. In my own area there is just a lot of construction going on as the crews try to repair the roads, fences, power lines and chop up and remove those fallen trees. It really is shocking.

No cakes for me this week but will be doing two over the next two weeks...one is a mermaid engagement cake and the other a kayak birthday cake. Both will be tons of fun to make!

Cat hope you have been able to stay dry. I have seen pictures of San Jose and know how damaging flooding can be. We had 2 bad floods

this pass year and I know way to many people who lost everything. Looking forward to seeing your cakes.

Was surprised not to see any cakes this week. I thought about not posting mine as it is just a simple cake for my great niece and nephew who turned 2 this month and were visiting from Maine. I made them a simple little clown cake to celebrate.

That is a cute clown cake!

For me, I don't have anything this week again. I have been working on some fondant flowers, and mixing buttercream colors for a "local talent display" thing, that is coming up in 2 weeks. I am making some cake dummies. They ran it on Saturdays, I went to check it out. It is a hodgepodge of a bit of everything, food, garden-grown stuff, jewelry, etc. It is free of charge for space - sponsored, all permits covered, by a local organization - so I figured, why not. It is a limited space, and I am not planning on bringing a lot for sale, but a few cupcakes and cookies, a couple of dummy displays, extra cake fondant toppers, and very small "free samples" in perhaps 3 flavors of cake and frosting combos. I am planning to bring along my cards, and gift certificates for my cakes, that I can also sell.

Any advice on these "showcases"? It is a first one for me. I am doing that for 2 Saturdays, and the 11th will be more green-themed (in my "vision") as St Patty's day is approaching. And the 18th - more "spring/Easter" themed. I think I have appropriate set up - pretty cloth, some little signs for flavors and such. I am trying to think up of a list of usual Q&A people ask about my cakes. Like "how long did this take you?!" and a polite way of parrying the all-important "Are you crazy?! That's SOOO expensive for a cake topper!" :-)

So stuff I had done so far, are all in some various stages of drying or prepping. And I am spread all over with my kids as well as some other stuff, so things are happening, but slow.

@catlharper ‍ Nature is strong, forceful, and unpredictable. Stay dry, and I hope things will improve there for everyone!

On another note, posting here is becoming increasingly difficult. My posts go to moderators as being flagged for content or some other thing. I don't even know why.

Oh well.

@catlharper ‍ sorry to hear that you are still dealing with the flood issues.  I can't even imagine going through that as it's not something we have to worry about where I live.

@Marian64 ‍ your cake is cute, has an "old school" look to it.

No cakes for me this week but I have one each week in the month of March to do.  Tomorrow is National Cupcake Day (only just found that out this week, never knew it was a thing prior to that) so I've decided to try out some new recipes to take to work tomorrow.  Cupcakes are all baked, just need to get them iced and decorated now.  I'm making pina colada, toffee crunch, gooey chocolate s'mores and lemon with blueberry frosting.  Not happy with the s'mores ones, directions said to fill 3/4 full being careful not to overfill, that there would be extra batter, but they are tiny! I should have filled them more and used up all the batter.  I almost redid them but decided it will be a learning experience instead.  I'll post pics once I have them all done.

@catlharper ‍ I realy hope things calm down soon for you and your community. Stay safe and strong!

@Marian64 ‍ simple, but so fun for little kids!

No cake for me this week, but I did bake a few cupcakes to bring to work tomorow. February 27th is "national cupcake day" afterall. Smore's inspired cupcake: chocolate cupcake over a graham cracker crust then dipped in milk chocolate ganache and topped with marshmallow cream huttercream. I'm pleased with how they came out eventhough they are not as pretty as some of yours. Still learning!

Hey Marian64 thanks for reminding us how cute that clown cake can be for a little one!  I'd completely forgotten it.

@LelekBolek ‍ I feel your pain.  For the last two weeks my posts have also been held for moderation and I can't for the life of me figure out why.  I've tried contacting  CC to see what I am doing wrong if anything but no response.  I like participating on the forums but am close to giving up on this site!

I'm guessing it's happening to others as well as I see more posts on here this morning than what were showing last night.  At one point last night it showed there were 12 replies to FNCC but only 6 were visible.  I get trying to keep the spam down but if all posts are going to be moderated first it makes it annoying/frustrating.  I also get locked out of my account after trying to post.

I'll try posting pictures of my cupcakes tonight as I am at work right now.  Good luck to everyone else trying to post!

I so understand your frustration... I'm also being flaged and go thru moderation since last weekend. Even more frustrating, I have to "log in" each and every time I come to CC, sometimes even in the middle on my session. So frustrating.

I guess it is an attempt to stop the spam, but it will soon stop me also...

@kstevens ‍ can't wait to see your cupcakes, sounds yummy!

@Laetia ‍ your s'mores cupcakes turned out nice and domed like I wish mine had.  I also like the crumbs sprinkled on the top.

@catlharper ‍ I didn't know National Cupcake Day was a thing either until I saw it advertised in a grocery store flyer. lol  There is a day for everything now it seems.  Just Google "National Days".  At any rate it was a good excuse to try out some new recipes and get feedback.

Ok... I tried posting my cupcake bouquets dummies photo and a post... Once again, it got held up for content moderation - since early yesterday, or even the day before - can't even remember. I think, this will be my last attempt to post, as this is getting pretty annoying.

I get the feeling, I am reading delayed posts from a few days ago (that also got waylaid). I know we are all spoiled/used to instant internet-gratification, but this is like switching to regular mail. I hope the forum is not messing it up for you! Signing out for now.  I will miss the discussion, please post something if this gets fixed!

@LelekBolek ‍ Yeah, Jackie is trying to fix that delay. I'm sure I will get it for this post. Not sure why the new program they have begun using is holding up the posts. Please be patient with them!

@kstevens ‍ your cupcakes look so delicious, the pina colada one is talking to me: "eat meeeee!" It is funny you like the dome on my cupcakes, I wish they were a little more flat!

@Marian64 ‍the smore's cupcakes tasted good. The crunch of the graham cracker crust with the soft cake on top was realy good. My frosting was too heavy though. I should have done a cooked meringue instead.
