Hello. Does anyone know where I can get instructions on how to make a french fry cake? I have to make a cake for a grand opening for McDonald's. I think I can handle making the burger by using the Craftsy video, but it doesn't show me now to make the fries in a McDonald's type holder. Does anyone know how to do this cake that I found online? It's probably a cake from the CC site. I'm wondering if I'll need to put skewers in each fry to attach it to the cake or can I just brush them with gumpaste glue then stack them. Will modeling chocolate stick together using gumpaste glue?
Thanks for any help.

Use a crinkle cut knife not a straight edged knife to make the wavy kind of fries
(its a vegetable knife - not your regular serrated meat knife!)
I've made a basket of french fries cake and little portions of french fries - pound cake stands up the best and after you've baked, cooled and cut, pop them in the broiler quickly to brown up on a rack - I don't use fondant. Don't overcook the cake - slightly underbake is good or the broiler part will cause the cake to be too dry. Some cake examples are in my gallery - but I really think the key is the knife! I realize your photo is the straight cut fry but personally I like the wavy!
Good luck!

Hmm - addition by me - I read your post again and see its for McDonald's so you can't crinkle cut - maybe i should have read slowerrrrrr!

I forgot to post a picture of the finished product. Finally getting around to it. Thank you everyone for the ideas. The recipient was very pleased. I ended up making the fries out of modeling chocolate then brushing on petal dust by hand. The fry container is cake.
