Kat my prayers go out to you and your mom....transition at any age is hard and harder still for those who have created a space and a life for such a long time in one place.....but home is always where the heart is and I am positive things will settle and improve....to have your mom is such a blessing. I lost mine a few years back ...I think it such a blessing to be able to be there for our parents... :)

Bless you :)

@LelekBolek ‍  the anthurium lilies were created using the Framer cutter set.....I could not get an anthurium veiner to purchase here so I used instead the Squires Kitchen 2 sided Hibiscus leaf veiner....it worked quite well...

For the Callas I used my moms cutters....I have never been able to track down the maker but love them...they have a beautiful tapered point at the end that you hardly see in calla cutters today :)

To keep the tips of the callas from breaking I adhere slivers of rice paper to the backs of the tapered tips of the callas...it really makes a difference :)

The theme of the wedding is "Bling" hence the use of the sugar crystals....Its artistic licence I know ...LOL

@LizzieAylett ‍ BEAUTIFUL work :)

I've got one of the last orders before I open the store in the fall. Making a teapot cake using lemon whipped cream frosting. Using fondant handle and spout a little nervous, used to working with buttercream and fondant

@ElizabethsCakeCreations ‍ Just make the handle and spout early so they can completely dry. After forming them place toothpics at each end of the handle and the center of the spout where the pieces will come in contact with the cake. Then, after the main cake is decorated you can just slide the fondant pieces into place securely. Can't wait to see it!

@LizzieAylett ‍ Love both of the cakes for the Star Wars Wedding! Not over complicated but very clean!

@Creativeconfectioner ‍ Thank you. Yes, it is very stressful on her but I really do think she will love it here!

I really love coming in here and seeing what you are all up to in your lives. I'm trying to come up with a theme for my next cake and am sort of leaning towards hand painting it...or at least part of it. I have till the 16th to decide but can't seem to even get a train of thought going! LOL! Guess this thing with my mom is more stressful than I want to admit!

Have a GREAT week everyone!

Cat

Cat that's my plan was just worried about putting the fondant accessories in the fridge, but I'll have cardboard. Going to make 2 of each just in case.

@ElizabethsCakeCreations ‍ Why are you putting them in the fridge? I've always just let them "open air" dry.

letting them dry like normal but the cake is made with whipped cream frosting so it has to be refrigerated, and although its for my best friend/customer I don't think he should have to put the accessories on.

@Frank68 ‍ Try posting the photos first and then posting the description. Sorry...it's a problem with this site.

Thanks guys.  It was a last minute cake as the bride's baker had pulled out.  Not my taste of design, but they liked it.

But I really don't know how those of you who do this regularly cope with the stress of deliveries!  It added ten years onto me getting this across town, and that was with it split into two sections.  I suppose you get used to it after a while and trust your construction, but I really admire you all!

i enjoy and appreciate all the work on here this week but I really like Lizzy's daisy cake -- and all the little dudes going 'round the white one -- well done

and just off top of my head there is a super cute Dora -- julia, you made all those figurines -- I thought they were purchased! stunning work --

and the one with the jacquard like white roses on pink/peach heart cake wow way cool -- heart shaped cakes are so rarely ordered but I'm a sucker for a heart cake I love yours with the giant spray on it --

and the very well done British flag cake , the polka dots add just the right touch because they seem 3-d compared to the beautiful flat flag  and the cool tree cake --

and sweetshops double cake, with cookies and pops -- lotsa work very nice -- I like the way you divided the names with the half moon shaped dividers -- brilliant

and the sierra cake with beautiful cross and sweet flowers

oh yeah and the dramatic callas and anthurium -- whoa somebody's been busy so pretty and so many

i think that's everybody except for sweettart's grand eloquent masterpiece that I bragged on in the gallery or in another post -- it's magnificent and how interesting that I guess that their last name is 'marrie'? I kept thinking all it needed was the 'd for married?
