Help! A friend of mine asked me to make this cake.  I usually do fondant covered cakes but thought, sure I can do this! I don't even know what to call it to google tutorials online. I'm guess I pipe on big globs and spread with a spatula?

Just a simple icing technique with a spatula or a spoon, much like your grandmother might have iced a cake for Sunday dinner.  Start with an iced cake, then use a small spatula or the back of a spoon to swirl the icing....there's lots of variations on this and it's super easy!
