Hi Everyone!
One of the many upsides of my new job is that I'm home for dinner every night! It does making caking a LOT harder since I work full time Thursday - Monday. So this week I tried to make jelly instead...and ended up with something more like strawberry ice cream topping. Fortunately I still have a ton of berries so I'll try it again this upcoming week. Anyone else have a mostly unsuccessful week?

Tryin to make a pineapple upside down cake, but it is a 10x10 square and needing extra baking time. I hope it works.
I've tried 5 times to upload a pic, and I keep getting a blank page with an error message. This is the first time since the upgrades that I have not been able to add a pic to the forums.
I can't believe the pictures posted! The first was obviously for a baby shower and the second was for a family celebrating 5 birthdays each symbolized by their lunar calendar animal.
@catlharper Strawberry ice cream topping does NOT equal unsuccessful! I would love a strawberry sundae right now!
@catlharper Now I'm totally craving some ice cream!! Best of luck, I'm sure you'll get it!!
@Pastrybaglady I could stare at your perfectly iced cakes all the time!
Well seems like we have to post pictures separately from our text.
I had to take it slow this week since I had surgery on Tuesday, but it didn't stop me from doing what I love So I made that ballerina themed birthday cake for a good client of ours.
Good morning everyone! I'm so sorry that you guys haven't been able to get your photos up! Please try to post the photo then do another post with the text?
And, YES, the strawberry topping was the BOMB on vanilla ice cream last night! LOL! So I guess not so unsuccessful after all? LOL!
@Pastrybaglady So glad you explained the second cake cause it's a puzzler! LOL! Well done tho! Love, love, love the banner on the shower cake! Now I wanna do one just so I can try the banner! LOL! (I'm thinking a 4th of July cake now...)
@SweetShop5 So many "simple" details went into this cake to make it perfection. Just beautiful!
I'm off to work. I'm working at the La Mirada site of the Monterey Museum of Art...go look it up, it's gorgeous! We are having a Family Day today where everyone gets to come for free and there are all sorts of fun stuff for the kids to do. I'm just manning the entry desk but it will be lots of fun!!

Lovely cakes everyone!
I haven't done much lately. Two weeks ago I made a 2 tier frozen themes cake for a birthday party my kids were invited too. Wasn't feeling well long before but not taking it too seriously and couldn't cancel the cake. I collapsed the same day at night and was put on bed rest with pneumonia. Used my recovery time to work on some cocktail inspired cupcakes which are actually quite fun!
@catlharper: Not unsuccessful but stressful. Made a cake today for a friend's parents golden wedding anniversary (50 years! !!). Anyway...turned out there was a miss communication as we had only talked about the cake on the car park. So she comes to collect it and tells me she wanted some writing on it. Now to start with, I hate to hand write on a cake as I can't correct a mistake. Second the surface of the cake wasn't flat as it had a big heart covered in golden flowers on it. Thirdly the space was tiny and by writing I mean painting because I only have gold food colouring gel so I have to use a tine tiny brush. Her husband was watching me paint/write like a hawk while I was trying to get my shaky shaky hand under control. Lol... I hate stress and hand writing on a cake!!! But thankfully I managed to write what she wanted, evenly spaced and straight.
My Gin and Tonic cupcakes.
Vanilla-tonic cupcakes brushed with Gin and filled with lemon curd. Topped with Gin and Tonic ermine buttercream and decorated with lemon zest and slice.
Typically one would use limes instead of lemon but I find them a bit overpowering.
Wow! @julia1812 What a week for you! Pneumonia is a horrible thing! I'm amazed you made it through the cake! Cracks me up that you used your recovery time to do more baking! LOL! As for the anniversary cake...Oy Vey! I really hate it when someone watches me cake. My hubby is always saying I need to go on one of those baking competition shows but I know that, in reality, I would go to jail for punching some judge or cameraman out for getting in my face during the decorating! LOL! I'd rather be locked in a room alone than have anyone over my shoulder while I work!
