What size pan should I use to make a football shaped cake for 20 ppl?  The cake will be two layers with filling.  I thought about using a 10in round and cutting 1-2 inch  strip down the middle and piecing the two halves back together.  It just seems that there will not be enough cake for 20 ppl.  Thought about using a square pan not sure what size?  I may be over thinking this but any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Doesn't a 10x4 r serve 39?  Then remov ing the center strip only removes about 2-3 servings.  Personally I don't think a 10r is going to look like a football.  You would have to trim down the sides - removing another serving or 2 to get a rounded football look.  So the 10x4 still should give 20 nice sized servings.
