Hi guys,

I have 2 questions regarding making a tall R2D2 cake (attached picture)

1) I was thinking of making the arms out of rice krispy treats. Can leftover RKT be reheated to make it soft and be used again? Or once it hardens it is not recommended to reheat it? (Do I reheat in microwave?)

2) what's the best way to panel fondant on a tall cake since I can't drape it? My rolling pin doesn't sit flat on the counter, it has a handle and make it difficult to unroll the fondant onto the cake.

Thanks guys I really appreciate your help!

The rice crispies arms sounds like a plan. I don't know anything about reheating rice crispie treats, but if I were to guess I would say it would work.

As for the fondant panelling. It's a good idea. When I panel fondant I roll out and cut out the piece to size, (give a little extra for leeway) and then I slide something flat and sturdy under the piece and freeze it for a couple minutes. This is very important to achieve a smooth finish and not have the fondant stretching and changing shape as you apply it. It won't be solid stiff, it'll still bend, it just won't flop.
