Buttercream Preference?

I am completing my first wedding cake. The bride doesn't want American buttercream. She says it's too sweet. I have only ever made American buttercream. She says she likes the silky kind of buttercream. Which type would you suggest? Italian meringue, Swiss meringue, French, etc? It's an almond flavor cake with strawberry filling. Thanks!
