Sorry no I did not, think one of the kids or cat may have messed with the phone or iPad.
you got anybody in the 48's to send you some -- it's so inexpensive and ridiculously fun
K8Memphis - as always, your information and advice are so thorough and helpful!
Thank you for testing and posting.
Have you seen that Sugarveil is now at Michaels? They have mats and the mixes...Going today with my coupon ~
Those lace strips are so long, which is great. I don't have Hobby Lobby, I have Michael's.
I have been searching and can't find these mats online. I've tried various different variations of searches, including Hobby Lobby, and can't find them...
i've never seen them online either -- just in the store -- oh i have a picture -- should go get that downloaded huh brb
that's the entire line up that was available at my hobby lobby as of about a year ago -- the little ones were like $4 the bigger ones were like $7 - $8 - $9 -- ridiculously affordable compared to the previous ones
and if you look in my vahst array of pictures (not vast ;) you'll see how i used them which i might add -- used quite cleverly if i do say so myself
BUT how does it taste?? Seems like it might be chewy? How does it slice?
so many questions...
it's not a bad taste -- it's not super sweet - it's kind of a non-taste flavor -- I kept some for a long time till it yellowed it stays flexible -- it's a little chewy but if you got it with icing it's not excessively spit out chewy -- besides it's so pretty and fun it's worth a little toothiness -- it's not like royal or fondant
I played with my cake lace mix this weekend and found that you certainly can have fun without making up very much of it! I only made 1/4 of the bag so I can have more play dates later. I found that you can bake it long enough to make it rigid or let it dry on its own and it will stay flexible.
I tried several brands of molds and they all turned out pretty well. Tried using stencils to get individual components and let them dry. Spread it out flat and then combed through it like the demonstrate using Sugar Veil. I'm thinking that I'll be liking this!!!
[postimage id="4886" thumb="900"][postimage id="4887" thumb="900"]I wanted to bring some information about the Sunny Side Up Bakery cake lace mats to your attention, because I didn't notice it when I bought two of the longer mats last Thursday at Hobby Lobby in Hickory, NC.
When you are looking at the mats, and if it is a symmetrical design, or if you fold it in half lengthwise and either side should be the mirror image of the other side, make sure that all the design pieces are there.
I have the longest pink mat that k8memphis posted and if you look at it, it seems to be complete. But I am going to post the same photo with the flaws circled so you can see where too much of the mold was removed, and once the lace mixture is dried and you turn it over to the front, you will see a solid space instead of the design that was supposed to be in those spaces.
I went back to the store today, but they were all out of that mat. So I am going to notify Hobby Lobby, who owns Sunny Side Up Bakery, and let them know that this one mat is defective. I have found photos of the same design online and they did not have this defect.
Hope this info will help when buying the sugar lace mats:)
ptanyer -- oh yeah I see that -- nor cool
i'm sure you already thought of this and it's not your point here but you could exacto knife cut out those spots in the meantime -- they won't have the exact same curvature but just a thought
i noticed that mine are not exactly first quality -- i don't remember exactly what it was maybe the mat was thinner near the edges -- but anyway they were a little wonky but i got the pieces out ok so -- i know hobby lobby will make it good for you -- sorry that happened --
hey hey hey -- what did you use to get that deep pretty dark color? did you dry it as directed on the box?
