Sorry, I don't even know if 2D is the right terminology.  But this is what I want to do, I want to put a house on top of a cake but I want to make it similar to this:  http://www.cake-designs-by-deborah.co.uk/images/peppa_pig_birthday_cake_large.jpg  I need it for my son's bday cake tomorrow so, I'm thinking to use thick gum paste (??) but would it dry in time?  And would I need to put a skewer in it or support it from the back?

Sorry so many questions....cakes are definitely not my forte!!

I would use gum paste with skewers, However, not sure about the drying time.

I don't think it will dry in time but yeah gum paste and skewers. Things like that are usually done several days in advance.  But all you can do is try...
