Hey folks, any ideas on how to do the middle tier on this cake? Appears to be buttercream but this is brighter silver than your average airbrush silver. And it has a textured look. Thanks in advance!55b7c9257ab03.jpeg

I could be wrong, but to me it looks like it's painted on - - a mixture of silver highlighter dust and clear alcohol (rum or vodka).

It does look painted [I see some streaking and irregularity].  If it's silver highlighter, it's inedible, so a dummy tier would be OK.

It could be done with edible silver leaf.  It's fussy & expensive.

That's a Faye Cahill design...on her FB page she has a lot of cakes posted that have tiers resembling the one above...

It seems she uses edible silver leaf and 24 kt gold leaf often.

(There's no info in the caption (or comment section) about what she used specifically on this cake, though it is posted)
