All of the sudden. my Satin Ice fondant is tearing! A couple of weeks ago I got two bad buckets of fondant, it was really stiff, wouldn't mix back in together and when I put it on a cake, it would tear along the top edges, and some on the sides. I gimped through and made my cakes work. I have called Satin Ice and they tested their sample and found nothing wrong with it. So I just bought another 2 twenty pound buckets and they are tearing! Not stiff like the first two, but they roll out nice and then tear as soon as I place on the cakes! What the heck? What am I going to do? Did they change the formula? It's not like I am a newby, I own my own home bakery and have been making cakes with fondant (satin ice) for YEARS! I have not changed anything: same fondant mat, same rolling pin, same buttercream, same icing process, same temperature for storage and decorating. What gives! So now I have over $200 worth of %@$# fondant and cakes that are due tomorrow!
