Need Ideas For This Lace Please

Any ideas on how to achieve the look of this lace? I have some molds but they're for borders and I'm stumped on how to do the piece on top.

This is one piece of sugar lace from a large lace mat. It's joined at the border of the top cake, then spread out and over the bottom cake. Tricky. I've worked with sugar lace, and unless it's very subtle, it will rip, break or shatter trying to apply.
