Do I have to use a fairly dense cake for my carved cakes? If I carve a very moist cake while it's frozen, will it work?

I would use a dense cake recipe.  And a good dense cake recipe can still be moist, like a pound cakel  Personally, I would not risk it if you have a good recipe for a denser cake.

Great. Thank you. I have a recipe for a dense almond cake but I wasn't sure if that would be ok.
