Can I ice a tiered dummy cake, or is fondant preferred

You can ice it in buttercream.

Thank you, I've never used one before but I have a bride who wants cupcakes and a dummy with just real cake on top tier to cut for pictures.  I only found fondant tutorials, and was afraid the buttercream might slide off.  This is a last minute order and I really don't have time to experiment!
