I have a wedding cake order for a cake that has navy blue fondant. I have tried ameriacolor navy blue with a little bit of black. I had to use so much that it softened the fondant. I ordered blue wilton and added alittle navy blue and black and it was still too soft. Every time i go to put ut on the cake it tears and.rips. so i ordered navy blue powdered food color. I in 15years have never used powdered food color. So my question is when do i add the powdered food coloring? Do i add it to the powdered sugar when im making mmf?? My hope is that if i use the powder it wont make my fondant to soft.any advice on making dark colored fondant would help.thanks!!!

I always buy my navy pre-colored.  Fondx has a nice navy.

I always use commercially prepared fondant so I can't really compare.  I've heard mmf is very stretchy, this is not.  I didn't have any trouble with it tearing.
