I was trying to make a sugarveil recipe, but most call for tylose powder which I couldn't find. So I turned to gel.

Here's what I found worked for me, though it's not exact and I'd tweak it for your preference:

1/2 packet knox gelatine packet dissolved in about  2 - 3 tablespoons warm water

1 teaspoon xantham gum powder

approx 3 - 4 tblspoons powdered sugar

You might have to mess around with how much powdered sugar you put in, but this gave me a clear flexible gel that was easy to work with. If it set up on me, I just popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it softened up again to work with. Plus, it tastes great :) Wish I could post a picture on the forum....

Anyone know of an easy sugarveil recipe that doesn't have tylose in it? and perhaps uses fresh egg whites?
