I am wanting to make a polka dot surprise cake for my boyfriend. I have never made one before, but I am optimistic about the process, but I did want your opinion.

I was hoping that I could use Oreo balls as the dots in a red velvet cake.

What are your thoughts? Would it be a total disaster?

It would not be a total disaster :)  But I don't know if there's enough contrast in the colors to make that polka dot impact. If you're doing red velvet you would get more impact from a lighter color.  If you want to do easy how about Twinkie cake ball polka dots or would he like the vanilla cookie balls?  Just my thoughts.
