I've been doing cakes and cupcakes for some time now, and I'm getting a bit bored of just doing the usual patterns of swirls, whips etc... I'm looking for a book for ADVANCED skills... all books I find with that promise are not any good. there's no tutorials on how to make things (teapots and saucers for example) just "attach the fondant xxxxx" I need to feed my imagination and skills and before I can do that, I want a good in-depth book!!

Hello Scotland!  I'd recommend the wealth of free information available on Youtube and CakeCentral.  I am assuming that you want specific fondant figure tutorials instead of buttercream. 

Type in the search box:  Christmas cupcakes or dog cupcakes, or skull cupcakes or ....anything + cupcakes.

You'll see thousands of images, click on the ones you like, go to that person's website, and quite often you will find free tutorials.
