You could try vodka on a paintbrush - but that does always leave the spot a bit shinier.

 

It is smack in the centre - is there anything else you could put there?

AArgh! Maybe move the plate down to bottom tier. I also have a motorcycle to put somewhere. I think I'll ask client to place in front on bottom. Sigh oh well. My dh says he doesn't see it but I think he's lying

Excellent! Looks great! I think I actually like it more on the bottom tier - balances out the logo at the top.
