AQuick rookie question (go easy on me): Making chocolates for a party tomorrow and the recipe on the website for the themed party suggested just melting chocolate chips to use with a mold. In my limited experience eith candy making, I have always used the candy melts. Can I add a little coconut oil to the melted chocolate chips to get a similar consistency to that of the melts? Will they still set up the same? THANKS!

Ai would be concerned about the choco being in temper -- i used either vegetable oil or cocoa butter candy melts for molds & things-- i added oil or paramount crystals to enhance the bite of the finished product so it was not so snappy -- softer on the tooth but still sets up --

so you just want to be sure the chips are tempered so it performs correctly for you and is nice & glossy pretty when unmolded
