Hi, this is my first post and im not even sure if it is the right place.

I have been asked to make my first wedding cake and the bride wants 1 tier Madeira and the other chocolate. I was wondering what is the most common chocolate cake to use in a wedding cake? Chocolate madeira, Chocolate sponge, Chocolate fudge? I know it would be whatever is asked for but the bride herself does not like chocolate cake (a sin I Know) so she doesnt know or mind, she just wants the chocolate option for her guests.

So any input would be much appreciated

Lisa

It depends where you live what people are going to be used to. But it is honestly whatever they want, or hat you can make well. I wouldn't use a sponge cake, but it's up to you.

If you are using madeira in one tier, I would use chocolate madeira in the other. Only because you could make the whole lot in one go, separate out your batter for the chocolate one, and add the chocolate or cocoa/water paste to make it chocolatey. Easier for you.
