AMake it from coloured gum paste, dry it thoroughly in a flower former or similar-shaped place to give the wings shape (or prop them up with wadded paper towel or cling wrap while they're drying), and then attach it using royal icing. Add a beak at the end when the RI is dry so it looks like it's hanging on!
AThanks dear... but how gumpaste ribbon can take the weight of gumpaste bird... i m afraid it might break. Do i need to add wire in ribbon,,,,, which bird is holding?
I would put a wire in back of the ribbon and cover it in gumpaste, then attach the bird to the ribbon and let the whole thing dry. Then it can be inserted in to the side of the figure behind the arm.
AIt's up to you if you add a wire to the ribbon, it's easily enough done. I was envisaging something quite small with a tiny bird that you attached to the pre-dried ribbon.
If you are going bigger, definitely add the wire, dry the whole thing separately and add it at the last minute. Don't forget to wrap the wire or put it in a pick if the figure is going to be made of cake - if it's gumpaste then no problem inserting it straight in. Just warn the client (or your children, depending on who's eating it!)
